REVIEW: VIBRONICS feat. MADU - Warriors (Deep Root)

Vibronics from Leicester England have been delivering some serious dub pieces since they entered the scene. Inspired by the earthshaker Aba Shanti I they took the first steps into digital dub through a Atari computer, some keyboards and a 16 track mixerboard. It didn't take long before they got the vibes right and had dubplates running on the inspirers sound system as well others. After being introduced to Zion Train in 1996 a relationship took root and growed and over the years the Vibronics came to release loads of material on Universal Egg which is run by people from Zion Train. After gaining serious recognition for their works in the dub circuit they took a step further by starting release vinyl on their own on the Scoops label. Through the years Vibronics have worked with many UK vocalists like Wayne McArthur, Murry Man, Boney L and others. Madu who's featured here have been singing and touring with the Vibronics for years now and is more or less considered as one of the Vibronics crew as far as I know. He began his musical career singing for a local sound called "Rebel Hi Powa". On from that he has worked with both Dub Factory and Aba Shanti I before linking up with Steve Vibronics and crew.

"...warriors, warriors, warriors, we got to step it inna Africa. Jah Righteous warriors are coming, we got the wicked them running..."

On this fresh seven inch vinyl the Vibronics takes on the Jah Shaka classic "Warriors" released in the early eighties. Productionwise the Vibronics version doesn't sound anything like the original except for the lyrics sung. Originally sung by Junior Brown who's drawn out singing fits Vibronics singer Madu perfectly, since summons with his personal style of singing. Rhythmwise this is a mid tempo one drop with a pumping organ giving you the feel that it goes faster than it actually does. I think I can more than rightfully suppose that the bass was built purely for sound system play since this tune been featured on UK sound systems as a dubplate for some time now. The bassline is deep, growling and best suited being played with lots of bass so the heaviness of the monotone bass doesn't fall flat when listening to it on your laptop computer.

Soundclip - Vibronics feat. Madu - Warriors

B-side of the vinyl features the instrumental of "Warriors" which keeps the pumping organ and the pounding bass intact all through while the skanks do must of the dubbing as they echo throughout the version. To be found on the Deep Root label on limited seven inch release.
