REVIEW: WAYNE MCARTHUR - Inna Dub Jah (Moonwave Music)

It was not long ago I reviewed Wayne McArthurs "Inna Love of Jah" which is a extensive compilation of his works up to date. If you're not familiar with Wayne McArthur I recommend you read the "Inna Love of Jah" review (which can be found HERE) and check this one after so you get the fullness of it. This album is the dub counterpart to "Inna Love of Jah" and features dub version to all tracks. Mind that although some dubs have been heard before, on Wayne McArthurs earlier outputs, these tracks are special mixes never released before due to the dedication to this album project. So hence that this is eighteen tracks of pure dub specials.

Soundclip - Wayne McArthur - Words of Dub (Flute Mix)

From the first track to last there's no holding back. It's fast and bass heavy steppers with the occasional one drop slowing down the pace before the rhythm kicks up again. Many of the tracks feature long intros with the melody or Wayne's vocal taking the lead and leaving out the bass and the drum (when not the other way around) before they come back in full force. I reckon Wayne McArthur wanted us to catch a vibe of the sound system culture when he gave us a second dub version to enjoy to up to six of twelve rhythms.

Soundclip - Wayne McArthur - Run Come Dubwise (Melodica Mix)

Among the producers he collaborated with on this album you'll find names such as Vibronics, Russ Disicples, Jah Free and Bush Chemists. All adding their own unique flavour to the rhythms provided. Favorites on the album include the flute mix of "Words of Dub", "Blessings Dub" with the Crispy Horns section sounding powerful in the mix, "Giving Praises in Dub" which simply catches the good vibe of the rhythm and "Run Come Dubwise" with its Augustus Pablo inspired melodica. Dubwise in good form bringing out the best of each rhythm and version. To get the fullness of these dubs I recommend playing them loud without being afraid of increasing the bass just little bit more.

I know this release have been delayed quite a bit yet have patience because when it come it will be well worth the wait. In the meanwhile I recommend you check out the vocal version to this dub CD entitled "Inna Love of Jah", Moonwave Music label.
