REVIEW: BAGGA T - Behold (Lionyouths Music)

From the fairly new reggae label Lionyouths Music comes a fresh 7:inch vinyl for the UK-roots massive.

Bagga T is a upcoming singer from the King Shiloh crew in Amsterdam, Holland. There have been dubplates of Bagga T circulating among the UK-roots sounds in Europe, but no official release so far. So this is his first release of hopefully many more to come. Bagga T got a deep and ruff kind of voice which I can't compare to any other singer of today. "Behold" contains some good reasoning linked to the book of revalation. About how things look in the world today and how those things are comparable to what is written in the Bible. He doesn't say it literally but if you know your Bible, you know what he's singing about. The coming of Jah. Good vocal delivery over a ruffer than ruff steppers rhythm.

"Nation fight against nation, brothers are killing brothers. In a world of so much polution, teaching the children destruction..."

Soundclip - Bagga T - Behold

The rhythm track is produced by Iyah One also from the King Shiloh crew, although now located in Gothenburg Sweden. Before this "Behold" Iyah One has given us two solid tunes featuring Lyrical Benjie on vocals. One featured on Lyrical Benjie's Showcase EP "Ten Plagues" ("Rise and Flee") and the other on his album "Rastaman Style" ("Jah The Conqueror"). Iyah One's landscape of sound contains depth, driving drum and bass patterns very suitable for sound system use. "Behold" and its hard stepping version contains the same ingredients, so it will not come as a suprise if this one is featured on UK-roots sounds with the intention to cause bass pressure. The rhythm track starts off with the melody done of a horn like sound over a steppers rhythm before heading into some real heavy bass pressure. Iyah One has done a good job with the melodies twisting around each other as Bagga T declares the coming of Jah over this well heavy steppers rhythm.
